Arrival

We arrived in Paris the morning of Thursday, June 6, after a day long flight from San Diego. On the train ride into the city a young Parisian woman named Lesley kindly led us to our apartment we had rented in the Marais district. Paul & Cynthia, our apartment owners, welcomed us with the keys and answered our sightseeing questions.

The rest of the day we walked around the neighborhood and wandered over to the islands Ile St. Louis & Ile de la Cite, where Notre Dame is located.

Unfortunately, I lost a lot of the photos taken during a street stroll when transferring them onto the iPad -- images below are a few that were left:

On Ile de Cite is the Palais de Justice complex where Marie Antoinette and others were imprisoned after the French Revolution.

At the day's end we took a tour boat ride. Many other boats glided by as we waited for ours to start.

My camera didn't quite capture the beauty of Paris by night (this image was the best of the bunch). Seated behind us on the tour was a family from Ohio with ties to friends in Michigan. Paris is a small world after all!
