Ostabat

The hot sunshine of Wednesday turned into clouds, mist, and finally showers. The rain brought with it cooler temperatures, a nice change from the muggy heat yesterday. This was to be our longest day of walking on the whole trip, so we sent ahead Dad's pack to the gite in Ostabat, a quaint 'hardscrabble' farm village.

We mistakenly put our rain coats in the pack transported to Ostabat. At the cafe break we were able to get plastic garbage bags to use as impromptu ponchos -- they did the job!

Riding this bike would be faster than walking!

The evening ended with conversation and beverages. The gite's owner is seated at the head of the table. Clementine and Anne are to the left -- they've been with us for the last couple days. As we were all sitting there, sheep passed by on the dirt road, winding their way home for the night.
